Maj.-Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division, Nigerian Army, on Wednesday, reiterated that training was critical to enhance operations and to tackle insecurity in the country.

ASHENEWS reports that the Niger state governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago has solicited the help of the Nigerian Armed Forces in curtailing the insecurity in some parts of the state.
“The current situation in Isa, Headquarters of Isa Local Government is a case in point of the nonchalant attitude of the Sokoto Governor and his administration to the plight of the citizens that are under the stranglehold of bandits. As of today, all roads into the town are cut off by the gunmen, who have already taken hostage, scores of travelers on those routes. The bandits are also at present, surrounding and laying siege on Isa for close to 48 hours, so far, taking over 20 people hostage in the process,” the party said.
The sustained aerial bombardments by the Nigeria Airforce (NAF) on bandits locations and hideouts in the Nortbwestwern states of Katsina, and Zamfara, have forced notorious bandit kingpins, to request for dialogue and amnesty from the government, PRNigeria has reported.
