Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, representing Sokoto Central Senatorial District, has distributed 100 electric-powered motorcycles to residents of Sokoto State in another phase of his empowerment initiatives.
The move, aimed at improving livelihoods and encouraging the use of sustainable transportation, has been widely praised by community members and political leaders.
Speaking during the distribution ceremony, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Almustapha Abubakar Alkali, who represented the senator, said Wamakko personally ensured transparency in the selection of beneficiaries.
“As directed by Senator Wamakko, the machines were shared fairly and reached the intended beneficiaries. This reflects his genuine concern for the well-being of Sokoto people,” Alkali said.
The senator’s latest gesture adds to a series of empowerment programmes that have seen the distribution of electric tricycles, grinding and sewing machines, solar training kits, and food items to support small businesses and households across the state.
Beneficiaries at the event expressed appreciation for the senator’s consistent support.
“This motorcycle will make it easier for me to get to school and also help improve my family’s income,” said one beneficiary.
Others described the intervention as timely, especially as many residents face rising transportation costs.
Prominent figures, including APC Zonal Vice Chairman for Sokoto Central, Alhaji Yahaya Buhari Siriddawa, and Executive Secretary of the Arabic and Islamic Education Board, Ahmad Baba Altine, were present to witness the event.
Special prayers were offered by Sheikh Abdulaziz Kofar Rini, seeking divine blessings for Senator Wamakko and continued progress for Sokoto State.
Known for his people-focused leadership, Senator Wamakko continues to champion empowerment programmes that promote self-reliance, entrepreneurship, and sustainability. His adoption of electric mobility also reflects a forward-thinking approach aligned with global trends in clean energy.
