The Ministry of Innovation and Digital Economy (MIDE) launched its Digital Tour 2024 with a significant inspection visit to the Technology Incubation Center (TIC) in Sokoto State.
Under the leadership of Commissioner Bashar Kwabo, the delegation’s primary objective is to foster collaboration aimed at empowering Techpreneurs and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the state through digital innovation, with a vision for sustained growth and prosperity.
During the briefing on TIC’s operational dynamics, the Center’s Manager, Eng. Abubakar Ahmad illuminated its indispensable role in offering vital resources such as physical infrastructure, financial backing, networking avenues, and mentorship.
“These pillars serve as catalysts for start-ups, facilitating their establishment and expansion with remarkable efficiency,” he said.
Kwabo reaffirmed the state government’s staunch dedication to combating poverty through job creation, under the visionary leadership of Governor Dr. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto.
He resonated with the ministry’s steadfast commitment to fostering synergies with TIC, aligning with the state’s ambitious 10,000 youth Technical Training Programs sanctioned by the Ministry.

The culmination of the occasion saw the Ministry conduct a thorough inspection of TIC’s facilities and the innovative start-ups nestled within its precincts.
Technology Incubation Centers (TICs) are institutions that support the growth and organization of start-ups. Once these start-ups have entered the market and demonstrated self-sufficiency, the incubation centers graduate them.
Funding for TICs comes from both government and private sources, which then allocate funds to start-ups.
In some cases, private investors opt to fund specific start-ups of their choice and closely oversee their progress.
