The Sokoto State Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, under the leadership of Commissioner Dr. Abubakar Zayyana, has unveiled its ambitious 2025 roadmap aimed at driving economic growth and advancing the state’s development.
Speaking during the official unveiling, Dr. Zayyana revealed that the roadmap was designed through a collaborative approach, involving inputs from all departments to outline planned activities for the next 12 months.
“I informed the ministry’s management that I was bringing a preliminary roadmap, but it needed their inputs to be effective and to ensure accountability,” the Commissioner explained.
He further stated that all departments had complied by submitting detailed activity plans, including their objectives, timelines, cost implications, potential risks, and mitigation strategies.
“The directors and their teams are expected to deliver a 100 percent result on these plans,” he added.
Integration of technology
One of the standout features of the roadmap is its integration with software that will send automated alerts to department heads, keeping them updated on upcoming tasks and enabling the Commissioner to monitor performance.
The software, according to Dr. Zayyana, will ensure timely execution of tasks and allow for performance assessments to identify areas of improvement.
The roadmap, according to him, aligns with the nine-point agenda of Governor Ahmad Aliyu’s administration, aiming to bolster economic planning and foster sustainable development across Sokoto State.
Dr. Zayyana emphasized the ministry’s commitment to supporting innovative ideas from staff that contribute to the state’s economic growth.
Regular progress reviews
To ensure smooth implementation, the ministry will hold management meetings every two weeks to evaluate progress, address challenges, and refine strategies.
Maryam Ahmad Barade, the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, praised the Commissioner’s innovative leadership and expressed confidence in his ability to elevate the ministry to new heights.
She called on staff to be proactive in executing their responsibilities, emphasizing their critical role in the ministry’s success.
With the unveiling of this roadmap, the Sokoto State Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning is set to make significant strides in achieving its economic goals and supporting the broader development agenda of the state.
