Nigeria’s fourth-largest telecoms operator, 9mobile, has rebranded as T2, unveiling a new identity aimed at reigniting its market presence and accelerating its digital transformation.
The Chief Executive Officer, Obafemi Banigbe, announced the change on Friday in Lagos, describing it as a defining moment in the company’s journey toward innovation, agility, and customer-centric growth.
“This is not just a brand unveiling. It marks the beginning of a whole new chapter in our company’s history. We are no longer who we were. We are evolving into something greater, more ambitious, and aligned with the future,” Banigbe said.
Banigbe explained that T2’s vision goes beyond being a telecom service provider, positioning itself as a digital lifestyle enabler for Nigerians across multiple sectors. The transformation, he said, will make the company cloud-native, data-driven, and API-ready, capable of delivering faster, smarter, and more personalised services.
“Becoming digital is not just a cliché. It means empowering customers with tools and platforms that improve their lives,” he noted, adding that the new strategy puts convenience and control at users’ fingertips.
The CEO emphasised that T2 embodies agility, resilience, and boldness — qualities essential for competing in today’s dynamic market. While acknowledging past challenges, he said the company’s revival was fuelled by hard lessons and a renewed determination to win.
“We are not ashamed of our scars. Every setback prepared us for this resurgence. We have returned sharper and more focused. We are not playing catch-up. We are playing to win,” Banigbe declared.
Banigbe thanked customers, shareholders, regulators, and partners for their unwavering support, pledging to deliver value, relevance, and innovation to all stakeholders as T2 steps into its next chapter.
