Two Nigerian entrepreneurs, Mr Tosin Eniolorunda and Mr Felix Ike, whose fintech company, Moniepoint Inc., was named one of the 100 Most Influential Companies in 2025, have attributed their success to home-grown excellence and Nigerian-trained talent.
Eniolorunda, the Chief Executive Officer of Moniepoint, made this known at a news conference with journalists on Saturday.
He said their success as founders of the fintech firm was a clear validation of the quality of talent produced by Nigeria’s leading universities.
“Unlike many tech founders who seek academic validation abroad, Felix Ike and I are products of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) and the University of Lagos (UNILAG), respectively,” he said.
“In a significant shift within the global technology sector, we are rewriting the narrative of African innovation through Moniepoint Inc.
“Though we are locally rooted, we are globally competitive. Our success highlights a growing trend of home-grown excellence driving Africa’s digital economy,” he added.
Eniolorunda, a Mechanical Engineering graduate of OAU, said his deep immersion in the Nigerian banking ecosystem led to innovations such as instant Point-of-Sale transfers and Nigeria’s first virtual account services.
He noted that the company’s all-in-one ecosystem, which integrates payments, banking and credit services, had bridged critical infrastructure gaps that previously constrained small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
According to him, since its inception in 2015, Moniepoint has achieved a milestone rarely seen in the private sector.
“We have established a physical and digital presence across all 774 Local Government Areas in Nigeria.
“Our success proves that Nigerian universities can produce leaders capable of building world-class technology that competes globally,” he said.
Speaking also, the Chief Technical Officer of Moniepoint, Mr Felix Ike, said he designed the company’s robust and mission-critical infrastructure, which currently serves over 10 million businesses and individuals.
Ike said the firm’s rapid growth had attracted international recognition, citing its inclusion among the 100 Most Influential Companies in 2025.
He added that Moniepoint had also been ranked among Africa’s fastest-growing companies by the Financial Times for three consecutive years.
According to Ike, a first-class Computer Science graduate of the University of Lagos, the company’s journey serves as a blueprint for indigenous innovation.
“By leveraging local insights and Nigerian-trained technical expertise, we have shown that the next frontier of global finance is being built right here in Nigeria,” he said.
