Havel Corporate Concept Ltd. has introduced Artificial Intelligence (AI) Clubs in Nigerian schools to empower young people to become responsible and ethical digital citizens.
The Chief Executive Officer of the firm, Dr. Ahmed Badanga, disclosed this on Monday at the AI and Blockchain Conference and Training held in Abuja.
Badanga said the company had obtained the necessary approvals from the FCT Universal Basic Education Board (FCT-UBEB) and the FCT Secondary Education Board to run a pilot phase of the initiative in selected schools within the Federal Capital Territory.
According to him, the project will commence with 30 students drawn from Government Secondary School, Wuse Zone 3, and Government Day Secondary School, Wuse 2, both in Abuja.
He explained that Havel Corporate Concept Ltd. is the first organization to focus on educating younger students on the responsible use of AI, adding that it is also pioneering a structured approach to AI literacy, critical thinking and ethical awareness.
“This will ensure that young people use AI as a tool that enhances, rather than replaces, human skills and values,” he said.
Badanga noted that as AI becomes increasingly integrated into children’s lives, there is a growing need for young users to understand its impact, potential and risks.
“The urgent need to close this knowledge gap informed our decision to introduce AI Clubs in Nigerian schools,” he added.
He described AI as one of the most important innovations of modern times, noting its growing influence on industries and human interaction with technology.
According to him, combining AI with blockchain technology creates intelligent, secure and transparent systems, with AI providing analytics and automation while blockchain offers trust and immutability.
Badanga said the conference was organized to bring together stakeholders and experts to examine effective ways of integrating AI and blockchain technologies to build systems that are smarter, more efficient, transparent and resilient.
He pointed out that despite progress in private-sector adoption of AI and blockchain, Nigeria still faces challenges related to infrastructure and the full implementation of its national strategy on the technologies.
The CEO added that the conference also aimed to highlight the importance of legislation and review of the current regulatory framework on AI, especially in view of the various AI-related bills before the National Assembly.
Also speaking, the Director-General of the Bureau of Public Service Reform (BPSR), Dr. Dasuki Arabi, said the Federal Government had adopted AI and blockchain as part of its inclusive digitization of the public service.
Arabi said the government remained committed to building a digitized public service system that future generations could responsibly operate and manage.
The Acting Executive Chairman of FCT-UBEB, Alhassan Sule, commended the firm for supporting government efforts to integrate technology into public schools.
Sule, who was represented by Mrs. Florence Wenegieme, Director of Science, Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, said the initiative would significantly improve the adoption of AI and blockchain technologies in schools.
It was also reported that awards were presented at the event to outstanding innovators, companies and policymakers advancing AI technology and making significant impacts across various sectors.
