ASHENEWS reports that the Neuroscience Society of Nigeria (NSN) is set to host its 21st Annual Scientific Conference from September 3rd to 6th, 2024, at Bingham University located in Karu, Nasarawa State.
This year’s conference, “Landscape of Neurogenetic Diseases,” will bring together experts and enthusiasts from various disciplines, including anatomy, philosophy, physiology, computer science, and neuroscience. Attendees are expected from Nigeria and abroad.
The conference will feature a series of pre-conference workshops and symposia to provide an in-depth understanding of neurogenic diseases.
Sub-themes to be discussed include Alzheimer’s disease, Ataxia, Parkinson’s disease, Huntington’s disease, neuroinformatics, neurotoxicology, neurobehavior, neuroethics, and neuroeducation.
Professor Adesola Oremosu, from the Department of Anatomy at the University of Lagos, will deliver the keynote address. Plenary sessions will feature renowned speakers such as Professor Sadiq Yusuf, Dr. China Orish, Dr. ARY Mahaman, Professor James Olopade, and Dr. J.B. Adetunji.
The plenary sessions are expected to provide valuable insights into the latest research and developments in neuroscience.
The NSN conference will adopt a hybrid format, allowing both in-person and virtual participation, making it accessible to a broader audience. The pre-conference workshop will focus on the landscape of neurogenic diseases and essential scientific survival skills, catering to the needs of both established and emerging researchers in the field.
The Local Organizing Council (LOC) Chairman, Associate Professor Angela Danborno while speaking to ASHENEWS said that as the largest scientific organization in Nigeria, the NSN’s membership includes a diverse group of professionals such as neuroanatomists, neurophysiologists, neuropharmacologists, neurochemists, psychologists, neurolinguists, sociologists, psychiatrists, neurologists, neurosurgeons, anesthesiologists, and neuropathologists.
She said that these experts are dedicated to advancing the understanding of brain functions and addressing brain-related disorders.
Danborno stated that this year’s conference promises to be the most comprehensive and engaging event in the NSN’s history adding that it would provide a platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration among professionals committed to neuroscience.
