Egypt launches free 5G and 6G RAN training to boost telecom engineering

The National Telecommunication Institute has announced the launch of a new training initiative under the “Digital Youth of Egypt – Ready for Employment” program, aimed at equipping young professionals with in-demand telecom engineering skills.

The four-month program focuses on emerging technologies, particularly 5G and 6G Open RAN, positioning participants at the forefront of next-generation wireless networking.

The training introduces Open RAN (Open Radio Access Network), an open-source approach that allows telecom operators to integrate network components such as radios, base stations, and control systems from multiple vendors. This flexible architecture reduces dependency on single suppliers, enhances interoperability, and enables faster innovation in network deployment and performance optimization.

Fully funded by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the program combines technical and professional development. Participants will undergo hands-on training through practical projects led by industry experts, alongside essential workplace skills such as communication, project management, and professional English. The structure includes three months of immersive, real-world training within institute environments, followed by one month of intensive on-the-job experience with partner companies.

In addition to technical exposure, the initiative offers logistical support, including transportation to training locations in Egypt’s administrative capital. Graduates of the program are expected to benefit from direct employment opportunities, as participating companies will provide pathways into the telecom and technology workforce.

The initiative reflects Egypt’s ongoing efforts to build a digitally skilled workforce capable of supporting the evolution of advanced communication networks and strengthening the country’s position in the global ICT landscape.
