The National Centre for Technology Management (NACETEM) says it has been authorized to become a testing center for Certiport’s Certifications.
The Head of Communications Team of the center, Dr Tunde Babalola said in Lagos on Friday that the certificate authorizing NACETEM to become a Testing Centre in Nigeria was delivered to the agency’s management on Thursday.
He said that the certificate was signed by Robert Whelan, the President/CEO of Pearson VUE (the organization behind certiport).
Certiport, a Pearson VUE business, was established in 1997 and is now the leading provider of certification exam development, delivery, and programme management services.
Certiport exams are delivered through an expansive network of over 15,000 Authorized Testing Centers worldwide.
‘’This is, hopefully, the beginning of a new dawn for NACETEM.
“Many private organizations are demanding recognized Information Technology certifications from their workers, and digital literacy is now recognized as a promotion requirement for public sector employees.
“Tertiary education students and corps members will need this; creatives, Millennials and post-Millennials need this,” Babalola said.
According to him, it is time for NACETEM to work with the opportunity given in delivering mass digital literacy to teeming Nigerians.
Babalola said that NACETEM was the second organization after the National Board of Technical Education (NBTE) to be given the right by Pearson VUE but with different levels of certification.
NACETEM is an agency of the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology vested with the mandate of training and developing middle-to-high level manpower.
It also has the mandate to conduct policy research in science, technology and innovation management for all tiers of government and the private sector.
