ASHENEWS reports that the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the November 11, 2023 gubernatorial election, Dino Melaye, has promised to return local government administration to the grassroots if elected.
A statement signed by Omoyemi Gold Olumudi
Spokesperson, Dino/Deen Campaign Council said that Melaye stated this while interacting with Women and Youth elected officials of his party, on Wednesday, in Lokoja, Kogi State.
According to him, this is the first method of bringing back development to the people.
He accused the present administration led by Yahaya Bello of stripping the local government of its properties, resources, and funds.
He added that this has subjected the people to a life of poverty.
“This must not be allowed to continue for another third term under Bello. Our people certainly do not deserve their current pains and shame,” he asserted.
“There are many of you seated here who conduct your daily activities at the local government level and will prefer that governments at the state and federal levels allow your businesses and trade to operate effectively at the grassroots.
“I want to promise you, my fellow Kogites, that as Governor of Kogi State, by the special grace of the Almighty God, we are going to return local government administration to the local governments,” Melaye said.
