The Deputy Governor of Sokoto state, Manir Muhammad Dan’iya has debunked news reports that he resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Reports, including an unsigned letter dated February 8, 2023, and purported to have been written by the Deputy Governor, had filled the media space early on Thursday, claiming that he had dumped the PDP.
The reports were coming ahead of the Tinubu/Shettima campaign as well as President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to Sokoto state.
However, Dan Iya in a statement by his Director of Press, Aminu Abdullahi Abubakar, made available to ASHENEWS on Thursday, debunked the report, saying “This is untrue and blatant lie”.
“Our attention has been drawn to a letter purportedly issued in Sokoto to the effect that the Sokoto State Deputy Governor, Hon. Manir Dan’iya has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“This is untrue and a blatant lie. Hon. Dan’iya is still a bona fide member of the PDP, to which he reaffirms his unwavering loyalty and support.
“He is hereby dissociating himself from any such letter stating that he had left the PDP,” the statement reads.
