ASHENEWS reports that former Nigeria’s Ambassador to Jordan, and All Progressive Congress (APC) stalwart, Faruk Malami Yabo dumped the party to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Sokoto state.
He attempted to contest governorship under the APC in 2015 but stepped down for Aminu Tambuwal.
Also in 2019, he contested fort the party’s flag during which primary election against Ahmed Aliyu, he stormed out the venue claiming irregularities.
Yabo, who announced his defection during the PDP’s campaign rally in Yabo town, Yabo local government area of the state, described his defection as homecoming.
“I have always been a PDP family and my defection today is like someone returning back home.
“I thank everyone who is part of this movement and I promise to help the party emerge victorious in the forthcoming general election.”
Reacting, Sokoto state governor, Tambuwal described Yabo’s defection as the icing on the cake of the party’s victory in the state.
The governor commended him for taking a bold decision in the interest of the people of the state.
