ASHENEWS reports that the Governor-elect in Niger State, Mohammed Umar Bago has applauded Nigerlites for their support in the just concluded elections.
Bago stated this while briefing journalists shortly after he was declared winner of the March 18th election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
“I want to most importantly thank my running mate for standing beside me and other colleagues as well as the Governor of Niger State. We openly accept this victory. Thank you to all Nigerlites,” he said.
Bago assured residents of the state that his Government was ready to work with anyone irrespective of their differences in the interest of the state.
The Governor-elect also commended his closest rival and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Isah Liman Kantigi for exercising the spirit of sportsmanship and conceding defeat.
To his supporters, Bago said “we are calling on our supporters, please let’s be humble with this victory, let’s not arrogate this victory. Our arms are open to everybody to come and move Niger forward,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Senator representing Niger East Senatorial District, Muhammed Sani Musa has assured Nigerlites that the election of Bago as Governor of Niger State signifies the dawn of new hope for the state.
Musa, while reacting to the announcement of the INEC urged Nigerlites to remain supportive of the newly elected Governor.
“We have worked tirelessly for this. Today, history is made today. A new Niger is on the offering and I believe that come 29th May, new hope will be rekindled.
“We look forward to seeing a developed state that every one of us will be proud of. To the youth, they will see some changes and know that there is a government,” he said.
