The Adamawa state governor, Ahmadu Fintiri has called on residents of the state to remain calm and peaceful following the suspension of the collation of results of the just-concluded governorship supplementary election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
ASHENEWS reports that the Resident Electoral Commissioner of INEC in the state, Mr. Hudu Yunus Ari had sidestepped the INEC returning officer, Prof Mele Kyari, and declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Aisha Dahiru Binani winner of the state governorship election.

ASHENEWS further recalls that the headquarters of INEC faulted and voided Binani’s declaration.
Governor Fintiri, while addressing a news conference in Yola on Sunday, commended the national headquarters of INEC for its prompt action by halting the declaration of APC governorship candidate, Aishatu Binani, as governor-elect.

He expressed optimism that eventually the electoral umpire would collate and announce the winner of the election, saying only 11 Local Government Areas (LGAs) were collated out of 20.
He thanked the security agencies and people of the state for demonstrating courage and maturity throughout the tense period, stressing that nobody would subvert your democratic rights.
