The All-Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday called on the massive security operatives drafted to Kogi for the Nov. 11 governorship election to be fair to all political actors in the state.
The party’s Spokesperson/Director, Media and Publicity, Kingsley Fanwo, made the call in a statement issued in Lokoja on Tuesday.
Fanwo said said that the campaign council was glad over the huge presence of the security operatives in the state to help out in the peaceful and successful conduct of the poll.
“We wish to reiterate that as a Campaign Council, we welcome every effort at ensuring a peaceful poll.
“The election is for the electorate to determine who leads the state from Jan. 27, 2024 and therefore shouldn’t be a reason for insecurity in the state.
“However, we express deep concerns regarding the needless raid on the residences of some of our chieftains in Kogi East in the morning of Tuesday.
“We hold the hope that they are not specifically targeted ahead of the election,” he said.
The spokesperson, however, called on security agencies to act professionally, fairly and with the patriotic intent to maintain law and order before, during and after the election.
