The All Progressives Congress (APC) says members are free to contest its 2027 presidential ticket against President Bola Tinubu.
National Organising Secretary of the APC, Suleiman Argungu, told journalists in Abuja on Wednesday that while the party’s leadership and organs had endorsed Tinubu for a second term, the ticket remained open.
“The NWC and other organs have endorsed President Tinubu, but that does not mean the door is closed. When the time comes, aspirants can purchase forms and contest. Members are free to exercise their franchise,” he said.
Argungu stressed that the party would not emulate the PDP’s 2014 decision to reserve a sole ticket for former President Goodluck Jonathan.
He praised Tinubu’s performance, saying it justified calls for his re-election.
On APC’s recent by-election victories, where it won 13 of 16 seats, Argungu said the outcome showed Nigerians’ growing confidence in the party’s leadership.
