The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has issued a stirring call to Nigerian youths, urging them to transform their patriotism into tangible contributions for national progress. Honorable Jackie Waayas, the party’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary (Conventional Media), delivered this message in a statement released on International Youth Day 2025—August 12—describing young people as the “heartbeat of the nation.
Waayas praised the ingenuity, resilience, and bravery of Nigerian youth, emphasizing that genuine patriotism isn’t merely emotional—it must be demonstrated through service, accountability, standing for justice, and choosing unity over division.
She underscored that the nation’s future will not be handed to anyone; it must be intentionally constructed, with active youth participation in governance, civic life, and accountability mechanisms.
“The youth must participate in leadership, hold leaders accountable, and contribute innovative ideas for national progress,” Waayas asserted, adding that the ADC remains committed to equipping young Nigerians to turn their love for the country into concrete, impact-oriented action.
Furthering the message, she appealed to all Nigerians to mentor and support the next generation by creating platforms where youthful ideas can flourish. Her concluding words were a clarion call for collective effort:
“Together, let us transform our love for Nigeria into action that will build the nation we all dream of.”
