A former Minister of Transport and later Sports under Goodluck Jonathan administration, Yusuf Suleiman has been named as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Director General for the 2023 presidential and Sokoto governorship Campaign Council.

ASHENEWS also reports that while the governorship candidate, Sa’idu Umar was named as deputy chairman, the former state governor, Attahiru Bafarawa is named the chairman.

Accepting to serve, Suleiman said he will put in his best in collaboration with all members of the various committees to deliver victory for PDP candidates from presidency to the councilors levels.

“We will ensure that vote of Nigerians and that of the good people of Sokoto count by following every step of the election.

“We are equally soliciting the prayers and support of all electorates. We are also assuring you that we will do our campaign devoid of acrimony and hatred as we are all one,” he assured.

Inaugurating the council at the International Conference Centre Sokoto on Sunday, governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal urged all party leaders and members to work as team from the grassroots to the state level in order to deliver the party’s candidates at all levels.

”You should all ensure that those who are capable of reaching out and influencing support for the party and candidates are given the responsibility.

”Everyone must be included in the journey irrespective of his placement as a party member,” he said, adding that the PDP would work for the victory.

”I have not leveled any monetary influence against or task our governorship candidate on sharing positions if the party wins. What I said to him is to ensure he administers the state for the benefit of its people with every sense of honesty and sincerity.

“I know he has no money and has not paid to be given the ticket neither did I bargain to be given something monthly if he wins election,” Tambuwal said.

Others campaign council members include: Mukhtar Maigona, Deputy Director General (Field Operation); Murtala Abdulkadir Dan’Iya, Deputy Director General (Finance); Dr. Saleh Ibrahim, Deputy Director General (Media and Publicity); Umar Bawan Allah, Deputy Director General (Volunteer Groups) and Dr. Bello Guiwa, Deputy Director General (Election Management).
