The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has announced the appointment of two seasoned professionals, Mr. Andy Odeh and Mrs. Morenike Adewunmi, to head its Corporate Communications and Relations divisions.
In the new leadership structure, Odeh takes over as Chief Corporate Communications Officer, while Adewunmi assumes the role of Chief Relations Officer, underscoring NNPC’s commitment to strengthening its engagement with stakeholders.
Odeh, a communications and business administration expert, boasts over 30 years of experience across the oil and gas, advertising, and broadcasting sectors. Before joining NNPC, he had a 26-year career at Nigeria LNG (NLNG), where he rose to become General Manager, External Relations and Sustainable Development.
He is credited with spearheading NLNG’s rebranding campaign, instituting the prestigious NLNG Prize for Energy Reporting, and managing one of Nigeria’s most successful micro-credit schemes for host communities.
A graduate of the University of Jos and the University of Lagos, Odeh has further honed his expertise at INSEAD Business School and the Nigerian Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS).
Mrs. Adewunmi, a lawyer with more than 25 years in the oil and gas industry, brings to NNPC deep expertise in regulatory affairs, stakeholder engagement, and government relations.
She spent much of her career with Shell Companies in Nigeria, where she held pivotal roles including Regulatory Affairs Manager and Government Relations Manager. In those capacities, she built strong relationships with the Presidency, ministries, and regulators, ensuring compliance and safeguarding operational licenses.
A graduate of Olabisi Onabanjo University and the Nigerian Law School, Adewunmi is widely respected for her emotional intelligence, leadership skills, and capacity to build sustainable stakeholder networks.
Announcing the appointments, NNPC Ltd. said the move aligns with its drive to enhance communication, transparency, and engagement with critical stakeholders in Nigeria’s energy sector.
