The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has applauded the recent sentencing of a 41-year-old man to life imprisonment for defiling a six-year-old girl.
The convict, who was a teacher at Mind Builders Nursery and Primary School, Omole Phase 11, Ikeja, committed the offense in June 2016.
Ndubuisi was arrested after the girl eventually told her mother how he used to take her to the school’s toilet and art room to have sexual intercourse with her.
The agency, in a statement issued on Thursday by its Executive Secretary, Mrs. Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi commended the presiding Judge, Justice Sodetan Ogunsanya the state Directorate of Public Prosecutions for commitment to justice delivery.
The DSVA boss said that the victim and her parents exhibited strength and determination throughout the period despite challenges.
“They showed outstanding courage and were the voice of other victims and the voice of everyone in the fight against domestic and sexual violence,” she said.
She also encouraged other victims to speak up.
“Domestic and sexual violence thrives in silence. Healing begins with sharing experiences.
“At the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency, you will be heard and we will pursue justice together; please speak, we are listening.
“We will not rest until we rid our dear state of this menace and restore the peace and trust of every member of the society, especially those who are deemed weakest,” she said.
