BREAKING: Malian Col. Goita declared head of national committee

Following a coup staged by the Malian Rebel troops on Tuesday, an Army Colonel, Assimi Goita has declared himself head of the “National Committee for the salvation of the People.”

Five soldiers, including Goita had announced the formation of the committee after the ouster of President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita.

Goita’s declaration of self as head of the junta, is sequel to a meeting with top civil servants on Wednesday.
