The Viennese police are searching for a perpetrator or several serial offenders after three attacks, two fatal, on homeless people.
The latest victim, a 55-year-old man discovered a week ago on the street with cuts and stab wounds, died on Sunday, the police reported on Monday.
On July 12, a 56-year-old homeless man was discovered stabbed to death on a park bench.
Ten days later, a 51-year-old woman staying in a park was similarly attacked and seriously injured, she survived.
Police believe one person or a group of people is responsible for all three attacks, a spokeswoman said.
Due to the attacks, aid organisations have provided additional shelters for homeless people to sleep in during the night.
