Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has directed the total renovation, expansion, and equipping of the Dansadau Primary Healthcare Centre (PHC) in Maru Local Government Area.
The directive, contained in a statement issued Thursday in Gusau by the state Ministry of Health’s Information and Public Relations Officer, Sulaiman Isah, also calls for the provision of Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) facilities at the centre. This move is part of efforts to strengthen primary healthcare delivery in the state.
The governor gave the order during an inspection visit to the facility, where he assessed its condition and interacted with health workers. He emphasized that his administration is committed to prioritizing public health and improving access to quality healthcare, particularly at the grassroots level.
“The renovation and expansion of the PHC will enhance service delivery, ensuring that residents of Dansadau and surrounding communities receive improved healthcare services,” the governor said.
Speaking during the visit, Commissioner for Health Dr. Nafisa Maradun commended Governor Lawal for his dedication to public health, describing the directive as a clear demonstration of the government’s commitment to revitalizing healthcare infrastructure across Zamfara.
She added that the governor’s approval for the full renovation and equipping of the facility reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen primary healthcare centres and improve health outcomes for residents of the state.
