The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Defence and Deputy Chairman, Senate Committee on Anti Corruption, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, has spent over N20 million on the 2020 anti-malaria spray exercise.
A statement by his Spokesperson, Bashir Mani on Wednesday said the gesture was sequel to his sustained efforts, to curb the menace of diseases, especially malaria scourge that have been plaguing the people of the state.
Wamakko, who represents Sokoto North Senatorial District, flagged off the annual exercise, in Sokoto, on Tuesday, August 25, 2020.
Represented by his Director of Administration, Alhaji Almustapha Abubakar Alkali, Wamakko said that, as a Leader and and a Senator, it was incumbent on him to contribute his own quota in totally eradicating malaria in the state.
Wamakko also said that, he sustained the annual gesture to alleviate the suffering of the poeple of the state , as well as bolster their socioeconomic activities.
He appealed to the residents to be patient as the one-month exercise will fully cover all the targetted areas, adding, ” only a healthy person can be productive.”
In their separate remarks, the APC Chairmen in Wamakko, Sokoto North and Sokoto South local governments, Alhaji Bello Jijji Bado, Alhaji Almustapha Kwandawa and Alhaji Bello Maina Sara, respectively, commended Wamakko for the immeasurable gesture, just as they pledged to ensure the success of the exercise.
The trio further lauded Wamakko for his unwavering commitment to alleviate the sufferings of the people of the state.
The exercise is being conducted in Wamakko, Sokoto North,Sokoto South, Kware and Dange/Shuni local governments.
It could be recalled that, Wamakko had bankrolled a similar exercise in 2019 that was successfully conducted.
