A groundbreaking initiative to evaluate Nigeria’s Primary Healthcare Centers (PHCs) is entering a new phase as Orodata Science expands its data collection project in collaboration with Africa Data Hub (ADH).
The initiative will now cover over 1,500 PHCs across the country, with 1,000 additional centers in 10 new states included in the survey.
According to a statement from Orodata Science, this phase will focus on PHCs in Ogun, Edo, the Federal Capital Territory (Abuja), Kwara, Bayelsa, Ebonyi, Abia, Kano, Kaduna, and Gombe states.
This expansion builds on ongoing efforts in Anambra, Benue, Cross River, Osun, Sokoto, and Taraba states.
The project aims to assess the availability and quality of PHC services, evaluate facility conditions, identify resource gaps, and provide actionable insights for policymakers and stakeholders to strengthen healthcare delivery across Nigeria.
“Access to quality healthcare is a fundamental human right,” said Uche Oti, Program Officer at Orodata Science.
“By expanding this project, we intend to provide citizens and policymakers with data-driven insights that will enhance Nigeria’s primary healthcare system and ensure equitable access to essential health services.”
To support this effort, Orodata Science is seeking frontline volunteers from the newly selected states to contribute to the data collection process.
The insights gathered will inform comprehensive reports, interactive visualizations, and advocacy campaigns to improve healthcare access.
Additionally, the data will be made publicly available on ‘CheckMyPHC.org,’ a platform designed to empower Nigerians with real-time information about the status of PHCs in their communities.
This initiative underscores a commitment to transforming healthcare in Nigeria through innovation, transparency, and accountability.
