Resident doctors in Osun State on Saturday joined the indefinite strike action called by their national body, the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), halting patient care at the State Teaching Hospital (UTH), Osogbo.
Dr. Phillip Ajibade, President of the Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) in Osun, told reporters that the strike was in full compliance with directives from NARD’s national leadership.
“The NARD president was clear. He has directed all members across Nigeria to go on a total, indefinite, and comprehensive strike. ARD UTH Osogbo is an affiliate of NARD, and we have complied. What NARD is demanding from the Federal Government equally affects us as doctors,” Ajibade said.

It was reported that NARD National President, Dr. Mohammad Suleiman, issued a statement on Saturday confirming that resident doctors nationwide embarked on the indefinite strike after the 30-day ultimatum given to the Federal Government expired.
Suleiman explained that the strike became unavoidable following several unfulfilled promises and unsuccessful meetings with government representatives regarding improved conditions of service for resident doctors, among other demands.
