ASHENEWS reports that the Niger State, Governor Umaru Bago has directed that all casual staff in General Hospitals be paid N80,000 monthly.
The state governments decision, which aims to improve the welfare of health workers and enhance the quality of care provided in state-run medical facilities was announced on Thursday in Minna.
Speaking while addressing a group of casual workers from Minna General Hospital who had expressed grievances at the Government House in Minna, Bago stressed that the welfare of health workers is critical to achieving better health outcomes for the people of Niger State.
The Governor while acknowledging the challenges faced by casual staff, said that the government has approved automatic appointments for those with degree qualifications who have served between 10 and 15 years.
Similarly, diploma holders will be placed on probation and required to upgrade their qualifications within three years.
The governor, assured that his administration remains committed to improving healthcare delivery by ensuring that frontline workers are adequately compensated and motivated.
