The Association of Industrial Pharmacists of Nigeria (NAIP) has started building a modern research centre in Anambra State. The goal is to improve pharmaceutical research and ensure the quality of medicines in the region.
The project is located at the Coordinated Wholesale Centre in Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area. It is an important step in NAIP’s plan to strengthen the pharmaceutical industry in Nigeria.
This new centre is one of several planned across key states like Kano, Lagos, and Anambra.
During the foundation-laying event, NAIP National Chairman, Bankole Ezebuilo, thanked the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, for providing the land for free.
Ezebuilo described the project as a big step towards improving drug safety and better organising the medicine market.
He said that by building this centre, NAIP is helping to improve how pharmacy is practiced in Nigeria and even in other countries.
Ezebuilo also said NAIP is dedicated to building more facilities and training local workers to support the industry.
He added that with the right buildings and support, the quality of pharmaceutical practice in Nigeria can be raised.
Azubuike Okwor, a former President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, praised the Anambra Governor for leading in pharmacy development.
He said Anambra has always led the way, especially in the South East, and fully supports the project.
Other important people at the event included pharmacists Olumide Akintayo, Anthony Akhimien, Alex Uzo Onyido, and top officials from Anambra’s Ministry of Health.
The new centres will focus on strict quality checks to make sure all medicines are properly tested before being sold.
The buildings will have rooms for training, workshops, and research, to encourage new ideas in the pharmaceutical field.
There will also be special warehouses with temperature controls to store sensitive medicines safely until they are delivered.
