The Kwara State University Teaching Hospital (KWASUTH) has reopened its Radiology Department following months of upgrades and refurbishment.
The department is now equipped with state-of-the-art medical imaging machines.
Speaking in Ilorin on Tuesday, Chief Medical Director Dr Bola Ahmed described the reopening as a major milestone for the hospital and Kwara’s health system.
He noted that the previous absence of functional, sophisticated radiology equipment had limited effective diagnosis and treatment.
“The acquisition of these machines supports ongoing efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery and improve diagnostic capacity across the state,” Dr Ahmed said.
“With installation now complete, the Radiology Department has resumed full operations, offering patients essential imaging services within the hospital. This equipment marks a turning point. Testing is complete, and trained personnel are in place to begin full operations,” he added.
Dr Ahmed also said the upgrade would ease the burden on patients by reducing reliance on private facilities or the need to travel outside Kwara for medical investigations.
He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to investing in medical equipment, infrastructure, and manpower, assuring expanded access to quality healthcare across the state.
