The Kwara State Government has announced that the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Kwara State University Teaching Hospital in Ilorin is now fully working.
According to the government, the facility will provide lifesaving support for patients in very serious conditions and also help health workers to deliver better and more advanced care.
The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Amina Ahmed El-Imam, made this known in a statement signed by the ministry’s Press Secretary, Saad Hamdalat, and shared with journalists on Tuesday in Ilorin, the state capital.
Dr. El-Imam described the ICU as a big step forward for healthcare in the state. She explained that the facility is part of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s wider plan to upgrade hospitals and medical services across Kwara.
“This is an important step in our effort to give more people access to quality healthcare,” she said. “The ICU will save the lives of patients in critical conditions and also strengthen the skills of our health workers to provide advanced care.”
The commissioner praised Governor AbdulRazaq for his continuous investment in the health sector. She added that the new ICU will not only serve patients but also improve medical training, research, and clinical work at the teaching hospital.
She assured residents that the government is committed to making sure no one is denied critical medical care because of a lack of facilities.
“This ICU will bring hope to families and communities, especially in times of emergency,” the statement added.
The government also encouraged the public to make good use of the upgraded facilities and urged health workers to maintain high standards of professionalism and care.
