The Kano State Hospitals Management Board (HMB) has inaugurated two high-powered management teams to monitor and evaluate all secondary healthcare facilities across the state, aiming to improve service delivery.
This was stated in a release issued by the board’s spokesperson, Samira Sulaiman, on Saturday in Kano.
The initiative seeks to strengthen accountability, promote service excellence, and ensure adherence to professional medical standards.
It will provide a platform for direct engagement with healthcare workers to identify and resolve operational challenges in the facilities.
According to the statement, Team A will be led by the Executive Secretary and include directors of administration, pharmacy, and laboratory services, along with representatives from the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) and other professional bodies.
“Team B will be headed by the Director of Medical Services, with members including nursing leadership, the Director of Accounts, and representatives from various health unions and associations.
“Both teams are tasked with assessing service quality, staff discipline, and workforce productivity across all secondary health institutions in the state.
“They will also evaluate the functionality of medical equipment and infrastructure, as well as the availability of essential drugs and laboratory consumables,” it added.
The statement further noted that the teams would monitor hospital cleanliness, ensure compliance with clinical and administrative standards, and foster a culture of patient-centered care among staff.
The spokesperson quoted the Executive Secretary of the board, Dr. Mansur Mudi-Nagoda, as saying that the exercise demonstrates the board’s commitment to institutionalizing continuous quality improvement and responsive management in the health sector.
“The board will continue deploying effective mechanisms to ensure that government investments lead to improved services for all citizens.
“The teams are expected to submit comprehensive reports with actionable recommendations to the Executive Secretary after each supervisory visit,” he said.
