Kano state governor, Kabir Yusuf on Tuesday, inaugurated the remodeled Accident and Emergency Wing of the Murtala Mohammed Hospital.
The remodeling and equipping of the emergency section of the hospital were part of the governor’s efforts towards improving the services of the state-owned health facilities in the state.
Speaking at the occasion, Yusuf said the remodeling and equipping of the oldest hospital in the state, became necessary looking at its dilapidated condition at the time of its assumption of office.
“We felt it was necessary to correct the dilapidated condition of the hospital for the benefit of the teeming populace that is visiting the facility from across the West African states,” he said.
Yusuf appreciated the work done in giving the section a facelift and putting in place modern equipment for the provision of quality medical care to emergency cases and accident victims.
The governor commended the officials of the Ministry of Health and other stakeholders who contributed to making the project a reality.
On voluntary health workers assisting in the operations of the section, Yusuf expressed happiness with what they were doing.
He directed the Commissioner for Health to come up with the initiative of reciprocating the gesture by the state government in appreciation of their sacrifices.
