The Kaduna State Government, on Tuesday, received a preliminary report aimed at enhancing modern contraceptive use, marking a significant step toward strengthening reproductive health services in the state.
The “Preliminary Descriptive Analysis Results”, which explores public attitudes and access to modern family planning methods, was received on behalf of the Health Commissioner, Umma K. Ahmed, by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Aishatu Abubakar Sadiq from the Consumer Intelligence for Accelerating Modern Contraceptive Use project. All stakeholders witnessed the presentation at the Ministry of Health headquarters.
Welcoming the team, Dr. Sadiq described the report as a “vital step towards informed dialogue and the expansion of knowledge in key reproductive health areas,” emphasizing that open discussions and collaborative review are essential to achieving better health outcomes for Kaduna residents.
The analysis offered insights into several critical areas, including:
- Overview of the study methodology,
- Common sources of information on family planning,
- Public intent to use contraceptives,
- Understanding of various contraceptive methods and choices.
According to the project leads, the session aimed to jointly review the preliminary findings and collect feedback from key stakeholders to help shape ongoing strategies and interventions.
The initiative is supported by the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) and seeks to use consumer insights to accelerate uptake and informed use of modern contraceptive methods.
The meeting brought together a broad range of participants, including Directors from the Ministry of Health, representatives from the State Bureau of Statistics, as well as Development and Funding Partners.
Stakeholders expressed optimism that the findings would help guide data-driven policy and outreach programs to improve access to family planning and reproductive health services across Kaduna State.
