The Jigawa State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (JSPHDA) will on October 6 launch a 10-day Measles-Rubella (MR) vaccination campaign across all 27 Local Government Areas.
Agency spokesman, Ya’u Muhammad, said in a statement that the exercise, supported by the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) and partners, targets children aged nine months to 14 years, while children under five will benefit from other integrated interventions.
He explained that health workers and partners had undergone a two-day training on monitoring, evaluation, logistics, security-challenged areas, and data management ahead of the campaign.
Executive Secretary of JSPHDA, Dr. Shehu Sambo, urged parents and caregivers to present their children for vaccination, stressing that the exercise is “a vital step toward eliminating measles and rubella in Jigawa State.”
Partners supporting the campaign include WHO, UNICEF, AFENET, JSI, IVAC, Solina, NI-ABAE, Sultan Foundation, and Chigari Foundation.
