The Committee of Tertiary Healthcare Institutions has presented an “Award of Excellence” to Prof. Shehu Sale, former Medical Director of the Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital (FNPH) Kware in Sokoto State, for outstanding performance.
Prof. Sale, a Consultant Psychiatrist, served as the Medical Director of FNPH Kware from 2017 to 2025. The award recognizes his exemplary stewardship and rapid development of the facility during his tenure.
The award was presented on Saturday in Sokoto by Prof. Abdulrahaman Sheshe, Chief Medical Director (CMD) of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH), Kano. Sheshe described Sale as a pillar of success, noting his ability to transform FNPH into a modern healthcare facility providing specialized mental health and general healthcare services to citizens.

Prof. Anas Sabir, CMD of Usmanu Danfodio University Teaching Hospital (UDUTH) Sokoto, also commended Sale for his astute leadership and wished him brighter opportunities in the future.
The event was attended by the current Medical Director of FNPH Kware, Dr Abubakar Baguda Sulaiman, among others.
It was recalls that during his tenure, Sale transformed FNPH Kware into an integrated healthcare facility providing general medical care and established the first School of Nursing Science among all psychiatric hospitals in Nigeria.
