The Federal Government of Nigeria has partnered with Siemens Healthcare in a landmark agreement to acquire advanced oncology equipment for six cancer treatment centres nationwide.
This collaboration, facilitated by the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA), aims to elevate cancer care and provide better treatment options across the country.
In a statement, the Special Assistant to the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare on Media and External Relations, Tashikalmah Hallah, described the partnership as more than a transaction, highlighting its strategic role in addressing critical health challenges in Nigeria.
The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Pate, emphasized the impact of the agreement, saying, “This collaboration with Siemens Healthcare is a proactive step to expand access to advanced cancer care and improve healthcare outcomes for our people.”
The first facilities are expected to be operational by May 2025, marking a new era in Nigeria’s cancer care landscape.
Alongside state-of-the-art equipment, Siemens has committed to extensive training for healthcare workers to ensure treatment can begin immediately upon completion.
