A civil society organization, Productive Community for Sustainable Development Initiative (PCSDI), has commenced training for 40 people on reproductive health and digital literacy in Sokoto state.
The Executive Director of PCSDI, Mr. Nura Bello, said the training was part of the EU-ACT Project, intended to strengthen the capacity of community groups in the reproductive health system.
The European Union Agents for Citizen-Driven Transformation (EU-ACT) programme is collaborating with civil society organizations (CSOs) to make the participants credible and effective drivers of change for sustainable development in Nigeria.
Bello said that more groups would benefit from the capacity-building training, as modules were designed as a step-down for the benefit of other group members, especially those at the grassroots.
Also, the Director of International Cooperation in the State Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Musa Wamakko, said that the project was aimed at building the capacity of citizens in digital skills and reproductive health systems.
Wamakko said that focal persons had undergone series of training in Abuja and were expected to train others in their respective states.
He said that the sessions were designed to educate participants on digital skills, instructions, challenges, and problem-solving techniques, as well as reproductive health systems and their associated benefits.
The facilitators, Yusuf Umar from PCSDI and Mr. Abdulrazaq Abubakar from the ICT Unit of Sokoto State University, presented papers and answered questions on the contemporary challenges affecting digital learning.
The facilitators also dwelled on the implications of social media misconceptions on reproductive health issues and societal norms.
The Head of Program, PCSDI, Mr. Mustapha Ahmed, urged participants to put into practice the knowledge gained and educate others in their respective groups.
