Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), says 32 students will graduate with First Class degrees during its 14th convocation ceremonies scheduled for Friday, December 12, and Saturday, December 13.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olugbenga Ige, announced this on Monday at a pre-convocation press briefing held in Akungba-Akoko, Akoko South-West Local Government Area of Ondo State. He said this year’s convocation will feature the award of Bachelor’s and Higher Degrees, as well as Postgraduate Diplomas.
“For this 14th Convocation, a total of 5,799 students from our various faculties and the Postgraduate School will be conferred with their degrees,” he said.
According to him, 1,444 students earned Second Class Honors (Upper Division), 3,177 made Second Class (Lower Division), 582 will graduate with Third Class, while 16 students obtained a Pass. The total number of graduates includes 5,252 undergraduates, 526 postgraduate students, and 22 diploma holders.
Prof. Ige revealed that all First Class graduates will be offered automatic employment by the university after completing their National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme.
He expressed confidence in the quality of the graduates, saying they have been equipped with the skills required to make meaningful contributions to national and global development.
“Our university has not only sustained its reputation as one of the premier state universities in Nigeria but has also advanced notably in research, digital learning, staff development, and community service. We have expanded partnerships, modernized infrastructure, and maintained peace and stability on our campus, even in challenging times,” he said.
Highlighting his administration’s achievements, the Vice-Chancellor noted that AAUA had strengthened academic integrity and repositioned its programmes. He added that the university expanded its faculties from seven to ten, following a deliberate effort to broaden its academic offerings.
“We pursued a vigorous modernization agenda with the establishment of three new faculties—Administration and Management Sciences, Allied Health Sciences, and Computing—alongside new departments such as French, Food Science and Technology, and Library and Information Services,” he said.
Prof. Ige also commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the Governing Council, university senate, management, staff, students, alumni, and the host community for their continued support toward the institution’s growth.
