Bauchi state government says it has recorded eight cases of Yellow Fever.
The Executive chairman of the State Primary Health Development Agency, Dr Rilwanu Mohammad who disclosed this while briefing journalists on Monday, said the cases are reported from two wards of Ganjuwa local government area of the state.
“During last week’s immunization exercise, eight persons were reported death as a result of a suspected disease. But after samples were taken and tested, its results came out positive for yellow fever”.
Dr Mohammad said the agency had reactivated its rapid response team that include Case Management pillar, surveillance and Risk Communication pillars.
The Federal government had programmed a preventive vaccination for 19 local government areas of the state for February 2021.
“With this development the Agency will carryout vaccination in the two wards and eventually to the entire Local Government,” he said.
The Chairman also emphasized the need for families to keep a clean environment.
Recall that the state recorded 77 deaths from yellow fever last year.
