The Bauchi State Government has started the June 2025 National Immunisation Plus Days. The goal is to vaccinate more than 2.2 million children under the age of five across the state
At the launch event in Miri Community, Bauchi Local Government Area, the State Health Commissioner, Sani Dambam, said the government has made solid plans to ensure the immunisation campaign succeeds. The vaccines will protect children from deadly diseases like polio and measles.
Dambam explained how important vaccines are in keeping children healthy and reducing the number of child deaths.
He also urged parents and caregivers to bring their children for vaccination so they can stay safe and healthy.
The head of the Bauchi State Primary Health Care Development Board, Rilwanu Mohammed, also spoke at the event. He said the campaign is part of a national effort to improve regular vaccinations and reach every child with important vaccines.
Mohammed added that the campaign will last for four days. During this time, health workers will go to communities, schools, and health centers to give the vaccines.
He assured everyone that the state government is fully committed to improving children’s health. He mentioned ongoing work to increase the number of vaccinated children and stop the spread of diseases that can be prevented by vaccines.
The district head of Miri, Hussaini Abubakar, who hosted the event, said the immunisation program will help the state protect more people and improve public health.He praised the government for focusing on healthcare and asked for the local health center to be upgraded to a small hospital.
