AmplifyChange has marked ten years of transformative impact in promoting sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) across Africa and South Asia. Through its support of grassroots activism, millions now have improved access to healthcare, education, and decision-making about their bodies and relationships.
Since its launch in 2014, AmplifyChange has funded 775 civil society organisations, distributing over £125 million in grants across 67 countries, with significant investments in tackling gender-based violence, child marriage, and female genital mutilation. Highlighting its unique model, the organisation directs funds to local groups, enabling swift responses to community needs and fostering long-term change.
“In the past decade, AmplifyChange has proven the power of local action in addressing some of the most pressing SRHR issues worldwide,” said Dr. Narmeen Hamid, Board Chair of AmplifyChange. “Our partnerships with community organisations are at the heart of what we do, enabling local leaders to drive sustainable change.”

Grassroots success stories
- In Kenya, Dance Into Space (DIS) uses “artivism” to raise awareness about SRHR for people with disabilities. “DIS’s ‘Breaking Barriers’ initiative combines contemporary dance with advocacy to combat stigma and promote inclusion,” shared Artistic Director Onyango Ondiege.
- In Cameroon, AmplifyChange’s support has empowered organisations like Reach Out Cameroon to challenge toxic masculinity and reduce gender-based violence amidst conflict. “Our work brings visibility and resilience to marginalised communities,” said Anne-Marie Manga, Strategic Adviser for AmplifyChange.
A vision for the future
Speaking at the anniversary event in Copenhagen, Lotte Machon, Denmark’s State Secretary for Development Cooperation, reflected on AmplifyChange’s achievements: “AmplifyChange has lived up to its ambitious name, bringing life-altering changes to millions of women, girls, and communities. We look forward to continuing our cooperation.”
AmplifyChange’s celebration coincides with the global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, underlining its commitment to advancing equity, dignity, and justice in SRHR.
As the organisation looks ahead, Dr. Sory Ibrahima Monekata, Grant Director of Dambe Funds Sahel in Mali, emphasised the importance of sustainable impact: “AmplifyChange’s partnership has allowed us to build local capacity and implement programs rooted in the communities we serve.”
With a decade of success, AmplifyChange remains dedicated to expanding partnerships and addressing urgent SRHR needs, creating healthier, more resilient communities worldwide.
