The African Health Budget Network (AHBN) has called for a comprehensive review of the Zero Dose Learning Hub (ZDLH) in Bauchi State, saying it is essential to strengthen immunization service delivery in 2026.
Dr. Aminu Magashi, Chief Executive Officer and Convener of AHBN, made the call at a media and non-governmental organizations interactive session on Thursday in Bauchi.
He commended the state government, members of the Zero Dose Learning Hub Community of Practice (CoP), and other stakeholders for the remarkable achievements recorded in 2025.
Magashi emphasized that strong collaboration among the media, civil society organizations, academia, and government institutions through the CoP framework would further enhance immunization outcomes in the state. He also urged members of the CoP from academic institutions to undertake operational and policy-relevant research capable of generating credible evidence for action.
“Evidence-based advocacy is critical to addressing gaps in immunization financing, reducing zero-dose children, and improving overall health service delivery,” he said.
Usman Mohammed, Co-Chairman of the AHBN Board, highlighted the strategic role of the legislature in ensuring sustainable immunization financing. He stressed the need for increased budget allocations, timely release of funds, and effective oversight. Mohammed also called for sustained use of the AHBN-supported Accountability Framework, particularly the Immunization Financing Scorecard developed for 2023, 2024, and 2025, as a tool for evidence-driven decision-making.
Dr. Hassan Musa, AHBN Focal Person in Bauchi State, noted that the implementation of the Zero Dose Learning Hub had contributed to the timely release of immunization funds in the state over the years. He attributed the achievement to sustained advocacy and strong government support.
