Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, on Wednesday led a delegation of North-East governors to the Presidential Villa, Abuja, for a meeting with President Bola Tinubu.
The talks focused on fast-tracking infrastructure development and resuming oil exploration in frontier wells, including Kolmani and Lake Chad.
Zulum, who chairs the North-East Governors’ Forum, urged the President to prioritise the completion of strategic road projects linking the six states of the region.
He commended President Tinubu for his administration’s commitment to enhancing security and driving economic revival in the North-East, describing the effort as timely and reassuring.
“We thank you for fostering peace and stability within the sub-region and for continuing your predecessor’s efforts in sustaining the fight against insurgency,” Zulum said.
The governor also pledged the region’s support for federal initiatives aimed at training manpower and deploying technology to tackle insecurity and strengthen agriculture.
“We are aligning with Mr President’s initiative of manpower training and technology deployment, reversing insecurity in forests, while promoting agriculture under the Renewed Hope Agenda,” he added.
In his response, President Tinubu acknowledged the concerns raised and assured the governors of his administration’s strong commitment to the region’s development.
He stressed the importance of stronger collaboration between the federal and state governments as a pathway to accelerating national growth and stability.
Governors at the meeting included Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe, Bala Muhammad of Bauchi, Mai Mala Buni of Yobe, Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa, and Agbu Kefas of Taraba.
