ASHENEWS reports that the Zamfara state governor, Dauda Lawal, has reduced the number of ministries from 28 to 16 through an Executive Order.
A statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, on Thursday, said the measure is to cut wastage in governance and eliminate duplication of functions.
“The newly approved ministries are those of Agriculture; Budget and Planning; Science and Technology; Environment and Natural Resources; Finance; Health; and Commerce; Trade and Industry.
“Others are Information and Culture; Justice; Housing and Urban Development; Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs; Religious Affairs; Women Affairs and Social Development; Works and Infrastructure; Youth and Sport; Internal Security and Home Affairs,” the statement reads.
Meanwhile, the state government has fully paid the backlog of workers’ salaries, including that of June, which he inherited from the outgone.
