Arewa Youth Federation (AYF) on Saturday in Abuja commended the coordinated efforts of the Nigeria Air Force (NAF) and military intelligence agencies at ending terrorism, banditry and other crimes.
This is contained in a statement signed by AYF’s president, Muhammad Matazu.
The group also expressed optimism that the country was on its way to overcoming its security woes if the tempo was sustained.
It commended the sustained and accurate bombardments carried out by the NAF resulting in the killing and injuring of hundreds of bandits and other criminals in the north-eastern part of the country.
It noted that the bandits and terrorists had been getting serious pounding in the recent times and called for more of the assaults on their camps and hideouts.
It equally called for continued synergy between the various security agencies to ensure that the terrorists, bandits and other criminals had no hiding place in any part of Nigeria.
“At least 37 ISWAP/Boko Haram terrorists were killed in airstrikes recently by the Nigerian Air Force in Sambisa Forest by the joint troops of Operation HADIN KAI.
“We are extremely excited over the consistent onslaught on terrorists’ enclaves in the Northeast. These operations have brought a lot of relief to residents of the region.
“This is why we elect to commend the efforts of the troops and to encourage them to remain resolute in their resolve at safeguarding the nation’s territorial integrity.
“Security is everybody’s responsibility and on this note, we wish to encourage members of the public to report suspicious movements and activities to security agencies,’’ the group stated.
