ASHENEWS reports that a 27-year-old woman has been arrested by the police in Niger state for the alleged murder of her husband, Baba Aliyu, 25, after a domestic dispute in Dzwafu village, Katcha Local Government Area of Niger State.

The accused, identified as Fatima Dzuma, was arrested after the discovery of her husband’s lifeless body in a bush on New Year’s Eve.

According to the Niger state police command, the suspect confessed to the murder, which she said happened after she was beaten by the husband.

“The victim’s wife one Fatima Dzuma 27yrs narrated that there was an altercation between them over the night and she was beaten by her husband,” a statement by the police reads.

The police said that the suspect used a pestle to hit him on the head shortly after their quarrel, which led to his death after which she tied the deceased with clothes and rope and rolled the corpse to a nearby bush with a mat.

The police added that the corpse was recovered and taken to the General Hospital in Bida for a post-mortem examination, while Fatima has been taken into custody.

She is expected to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Minna for further investigation and prosecution.

Meanwhile, a video posted on social media on Thursday showed the suspect being interviewed by unidentified persons in which she confessed to acting alone in the killing of her husband.

“We had a pending misunderstanding. I told him that I didn’t love him.

“When he came back and he went to bed, I used a rope to tie his neck and he could not struggle.

“I hit him with a pestle three times. I used a mat to take him to the backyard. I did this alone, nobody helped me,” she said in the video.
