ASHENEWS reports that the of the University of Calabar has sacked the Head of Department of Pharmacology, Dr. Sylvester Ohadoma.
This online platform further reports that the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Florence Obi on Monday, approved Ohadoma’s immediate sack for alleged extortion of students.
This is contained in a release by the Registrar of the institution, Mr. Gabriel Egbe, and made available to newsmen in Calabar on Monday.
Ohadoma who is also the coordinator of the “Principles of Pharmacology 322” course, allegedly demands, and receives N3,200 as “practical fees” from each of the students.
According to the Registrar, the HOD had flouted the institution’s directives against extortion,
“Ohadoma is said to have extorted the same amount from students in the previous semesters, in addition to selling textbooks for as much as N12,000 each to students in flagrant contravention of management’s directive,” the statement reads.
