The Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto (UDUS) has dismissed a staff member, Garba Ahmed, following findings of serious misconduct involving the illegal uploading of unqualified students for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) mobilisation.
The decision was approved at the institution’s 176th Governing Council meeting held on April 1, 2026, according to a special bulletin issued by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Ismaila Mohammed Yauri.
The bulletin stated that Ahmed, who was attached to the Registry Department before his dismissal, was found guilty after due consideration by the council. His dismissal takes immediate effect from the date of the council’s decision.
Reaffirming its stance, the university said it maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward acts of gross misconduct, stressing that the measure aligns with its commitment to academic integrity and institutional standards.
The council also recalled previous disciplinary actions taken against staff for similar offences. At its 171st regular meeting held on March 12, 2025, three staff members were dismissed over various infractions, including result alteration, sexual harassment, and absconding from duty.
Those affected included Bello Aminu Bodinga of the Computer Science Department, Manir Malami Umar, also of the Computer Science Department, and Aliyu Umar of the Pure and Applied Chemistry Department.
The university emphasised that such decisions are necessary to preserve the credibility of its academic processes and uphold ethical conduct among staff.
