The Embassy of the United States (U.S.) in Abuja has reopened its redesigned American Centre for Excellence and Creativity at the Embassy Chancery, aimed at strengthening U.S.–Nigeria relations.
The centre features modernised spaces and advanced technology designed to expand educational, cultural and professional opportunities for Nigerians.
In a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja, the Embassy said the American Centre and other American Spaces serve as platforms to foster opportunity, learning and connection.
It said the spaces provide information about the United States, English language learning, educational advisory services for study in U.S. institutions, access to cultural programmes, alumni networking and professional skills development.
U.S. Ambassador to Nigeria, Richard Mills, said the reopening reflects America’s commitment to youth engagement, education and innovation.
“American Spaces have become trusted venues where young people can learn about the United States, improve their English and develop professional skills in a welcoming environment,” Mills said.
He added that through educational advisory services, entrepreneurship training and digital literacy programmes, the spaces equip Nigerians with tools needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving global economy.
The Embassy said the redesigned centre features murals celebrating American history, culture and shared values such as freedom, innovation and community.
Also speaking, U.S. Country Public Diplomacy Counselor, Lee McManis, said the centre joins 29 other American Spaces across Nigeria, serving as hubs for cultural exchange, learning and collaboration.
He reaffirmed the Embassy’s commitment to expanding access to resources and programmes that strengthen bilateral ties.
American Spaces, the Embassy noted, promote greater understanding of the United States while connecting the country with aspiring Nigerian leaders.
